Our Story

Dr Michael Agnini opened his first dental office near Southgate shopping center, in Lakeland, Florida, in 1979. The office was relocated in the north end of town in 1993, on Lakeland Hills Blvd, across from the hospital. Dr. Mike and his wife Donna who was his office manager and assistant, worked out of a small facility. When his two sons Matt and Drew decided to go to dental school, Dr. Mike knew building growth was in the future.

Dr. Matt and Dr. Drew came in to practice with their dad in the early 2000′s and thus was formed Agnini Family Dental Center.

In 2004, the Drs. Agnini opened an annex office just five blocks from their original office. This extra facility somewhat alleviated their crowded conditions, but three doctors in two offices designed for one doctor each, did not resolve their problems.

Buying an existing dental office on Oak Drive across from the Southgate Publix, in 2006, gave each doctor his own building. Dr. Mike’s dream was to practice with his sons, not in separate buildings, but together.

This dream came to fruition, when they opened their state of the art, brand new facility, in January 2009. Located on the corner of Lakeland Hills Blvd and Bella Vista, it is complete with three waterfalls and 13 operatories. This unique, beautiful Key West style office allows patients to receive the latest in dental technology in a full-service dental facility while enjoying a relaxed, stress free environment.

Keeping their Southgate office gives their patients the convenience of two Lakeland locations. New additions to the Agnini Dental family, include Ashley, Dr Mike and Donna’s daughter, who joined them in 2009, to practice dental hygiene. Also during this year, Dr. Matt’s wife, Dr Derry, joined the practice part time as an orthodontist. In January, 2010, the Agnini family welcomed Dr Loryn Merrill as their new associate.

Dr. Mike has often said that it was beyond his wildest dream that his entire family would be along side of him in the practice of dentistry. This is a proud legacy he can leave to his sons and daughter, and possibly pass down they can pass down to their children as future generations of dentists at Agnini Family Dental.
